A Trip to Format Festival Derby

13-04-2017

A uni trip to the International photographic festival at Derby.

First time i have ever been to Derby,a bit of a culture shock  😀 right opposite our first port of call “The Quad gallery” http://www.derbyquad.co.uk/whats-on/exhibitions-current.aspx  was a great big shocking pink tent within which the “Lady boys of Bangkok” show was performing as part of its touring season http://www.ladyboysofbangkok.co.uk/ not what i expected in a quiet backwater town, which Derby I have now found out is NOT !

The festival is located all over Derby ,and i do mean ALL over Derby lots of little gallery’s and lots of improvised gallery’s in old derelict or Semi derelict buildings the theme is Habitat

“FORMAT17 24 MARCH – 23 APRIL 2017

The 2017 edition of FORMAT will explore the theme of HABITAT through varied narratives and imagery that document the worlds around us. We will share the experiences and stories that coalesce as we negotiate our complex existence, including the flora, fauna, landscapes and the lives within.”                                                                          http://www.formatfestival.com/

Interesting and very diverse works, and interesting and diverse places to see them.              Here are a few examples from the Exhibition
